Option for opener
Yamal (hamstring) is an option for Spain's opening match against Cape Verde, according to manager Luis de la Fuente, per the Spanish Federation. "The best news is that he is in perfect condition. The process we had planned has been followed, and has arrived at the appointment at the time we wanted it to arrive. I anticipate that by tomorrow, they will all be available. That doesn't mean they're there for the whole game, but the best news is that they're in a good moment."
Analysis: Yamal has been training this week, and that will lead him to return Monday, as he has been cleared for play. This is obviously a huge boost for the Spanish team, as they will have their star player available heading into what should be an easy opener. However, the major question is how much the team will risk him, as playing Cape Verde, they may not want to risk his health if holding a massive lead. He will be projected to start most matches, but could be worked in off the bench just after the injury, possibly earning a few minutes to end the contest.
Continues to train normally
Yamal (hamstring) completed another training session with Spain and should be in contention for Monday's clash against Cape Verde, Alfredo Martinez of Onda Cero reports.
Analysis: Yamal may still see his playing time managed over the easier opening fixtures, but he'll likely push for increased participation as the tournament progresses, looking to fulfill expectations as one of the biggest talents in the World Cup. Even with reduced minutes, the youngster is capable of making a decisive impact and racking up offensive numbers. Additionally, he could eventually be relied on for a variety of set pieces. Before getting hurt in mid-April, Yamal tallied 22 goals and 15 assists throughout 38 club appearances across league and European action. Once he's in top shape, he should be favored over Ferran Torres and Yeremy Pino for the right-wing spot.
