Being limited in training
Paz missed Thursday training as a precaution and is expected back for Friday session, Gaston Edul reports.
Analysis: Paz was back after a month out with a knee injury and used the Iceland friendly to put his fitness concerns to rest, but a cautious approach from coach Lionel Scaloni and the staff kept him out of Thursday's session as they managed the hamstring area around his left knee. The move was purely precautionary and he was due back for Friday's training. Even fully fit, though, Paz is unlikely to feature heavily for Argentina given the volume of attacking talent competing for places in Lionel Scaloni's squad.
Back in action against Iceland
Paz (knee) played 58 minutes during Tuesday's international friendly game versus Iceland, gaining form ahead of the World Cup opener against Algeria.
Analysis: Paz is unlikely to start in the first few games of the major tournament but offers a talented attacking option if the defending champions need to add playmaking and distance-shooting ability on the wings. If he avoids further fitness complications, he'll compete for playing time with all of Nicolas Gonzalez, Giuliano Simeone and Lionel Messi. The Como man has scored one goal across three international appearances in 2026.
